An eleven year old schoolboy shouldn't find his life complicated. Jeremy does.
Jeremy is a normal young boy. His father is a successful business man, and often spoils the boy with lavish, expensive rewards to compensate for their lack of quality time together. His mother is a socialite who feeds off her husband's healthy income; she spends more time at the salon than with her son, and considers Jeremy to be nothing but a hindrance.
He has two best friends; Cole and Samuel. The boys have been close since primary school. The boys rarely get in trouble and perform well academically. They are generally respected by their superiors and their peers.
When the boys start secondary school, a run in with one of the bullies results in a freak accident, one that puts Jeremy in a coma and leaves him fighting for his life.
When he awakes and finds himself in rehabilitation, he soon begins to learn that something much more sinister has been awoken within.

Jeremy Evil Has One Name A Horror Novella eBook Matt Hickman

I've never read anything longer than a short story from Matt Hickman. While I've enjoyed his work until now, this was really impressive. The dialogue is crisp and believable. I didn't spot any grammar/spelling mistakes. This book is the whole package and a must read.

Jeremy is split into two parts. In part one, we meet Jeremy, his two friends, his for-the-most-part absent parents, and two bullies. I could see someone thinking this part went on a little too long, but I enjoyed it. Matt Hickman painted the perfect picture of what it's like growing up being bullied in school. He created believable characters and I really felt for Jeremy, because of the bullying and the way his parents treated him. I'm a fan of 'coming of age' stories such as Stephen King's The Body (Stand By Me) and Robert McCammon's Boy's Life. While this novella wasn't quite there for every aspect of the classic 'coming of age' story, Matt hit on an important part of it in a realistic way.

After a major incident that I don't want to spoil, Hickman starts part two. It's quite different than part one. Some time has gone by and Jeremy has....changed. It reminded me a bit of Stuart Keane's Grin until I reached the very end when all is revealed and the violence really picks up. Hickman does a good job at meshing multiple scenes together and I wasn't expecting the ending I got.

This is Matt Hickman's debut novella and he's a horror author to watch. I'll definitely be checking out his next release...and the one after that....and the one after that....and the... Well, you get the picture. This guy can write. Period.

Jeremy Evil Has One Name A Horror Novella eBook Matt Hickman Reviews

Loved this book and the way it was written. The story was great! Starts off slow, but good..... Leading to an excellent climax in the end! My first book by Matt Hickman, but he is definitely added to my list of must read horror authors!!
This was a good short story with lots of room to take the character further. Captivating from the start, you feel for Jeremy and what he goes through until, his accident and then the author leaves you breathless with what comes next. I look forward to another installment to this story.
We know he's evil right from the start so no surprise there. It stops too abruptly and it unsettled me to not keep going! Not fair to the reader.
The author has a fair chance to become a good writer...

and 3 other thrillers
Well-done! I didn't at all expect the twist!! Author Hickman makes the story very vivid (especially in the visions) as well as very visceral. The twists alone would make a great story, so it's doubly exciting. I very much anticipate Matt Hickman' s next--and future-project.
This story is very well written. It builds up anticipation till the ending and the ending does not disappoint. I really enjoyed reading this story about a bullied boy who has a life changing accident. I found myself feeling really bad for Jeremy, then it's almost as if fate strikes and everything changes. Jeremy would be a great character to make a complete series with. I hope to hear more about him In the future. Also, I will be watching for more from this author. Horror is my genre of choice. If you enjoy a good horror read then I recommend this story highly.
This was quite an interesting read, I spent most of it feeling very sorry for poor Jeremy. Then something happens that puts Jeremy into a coma...Could Jeremy have developed a way to implement coercive persuasion? During a coma it is common to experience sleep disruption, reorganization of brain chemistry, aggression and definite personality inconsistencies...
Whatever it is that happened to Jeremy, you don't want to meet him but you DO want to read his tale by M. Hickman. Recommend to all fans of modern horror!
For a first time novel you sure hit the nail on the head with this one! I can not say enough how incredible this book is. Two parts of this story and I was pissed when it said the end because I wanted more much much more! The story flows easily from start to finish! I feel sorry for Jeremy then marvel at the monster he becomes. I was on the edge of my seat at times and sometimes I just wanted to hug the poor kid! A true mix of emotions will be felt while reading this book. I always love a book where while reading the movie forms in my head. This book accomplished this easily. I can't wait to see if there is a sequel to this book! I certainly hope so hint hint!! Just amazing buy it you will not be sorry but don't start it unless you have nothing else to do you won't want to put it down!
